The fifth, but not final, trip of the year would close out my 18th MO State Camper Award! This trip was to a new location as far as camping goes. It was the perfect pick! Long Branch State Park was one I had visited before on the MO Centennial Passport Challenge within the last two years.
Never have camped here before but it turned out to be the best place I had never camped at before! I wound up with my own personal beach camping right along the lake! When the temperature got inevitably too hot, just walk 20 feet straight into the water to cool off. How great is that!?
This trip also started the quest for a second camper award. Unlike last year, this year the quest would start fairly late in the year. It will be a struggle but it can happen. No matter the outcome, can't go wrong with more camping!
On the return trip, I stopped by Union Covered Bridge State Historic Site just to see the bridge once more. To my surprise, it was in the middle of renovation receiving interior work and a new wood shake roof. Glad to see the bridge receiving some much needed care!
